Symposium: Pentiment, October 19, 2023

For our October Symposium, we’re discussing Pentiment. David will be leading the discussion; I imagining that the theme of the game alone will lead to quite a bit of discussion, but I’m also curious to talk about how the game compares to other games in related genres (e.g. visual novels, detective games).

How to join the discussion channel?

  2. I’m curious, how did you find us? Can you tell us more about yourself – do you have a blog or social media presence so we can see more about how you like to talk / think about games? Happy to have new people join, I’d just like to learn a bit more about you first.

Hi David! I’m a graduate student from Fudan University, China, majoring in Comparative Literature, currently an exchange student at UConn. I noticed this organization through Professor Roger Travis’s blog. I’ve been trying to reach out to him to find a way to join you guys, but I haven’t received a reply yet. My research interest lies in video game criticism (i.e. using literary theory to seriously interpret a game) but sorry that I don’t have works posted online. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

      • Hi Tianyi! I’m so sorry I haven’t replied. I’m on sabbatical this semester so I’m not as responsive as I generally am. We’ll get you an invite to the Discord server, and I look forward to discussion Thursday!

Thank you all! I have already joined the Discord channel. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to the discussion on Thursday, but I’m looking forward to participating next month!

      • Oh, perfect, looking forward to having you in the discussion! Sounds like Roger is taking care of the Discord invite.
