After missing a couple of weeks due to various conferences, we’re returning with another one of our simultaneous single-player playthroughs. Specifically, we’re going to play Oblivion this week, the fourth Elder Scrolls RPG.
Play on whatever platform you like; I’ll let Roger decide whether we’re chatting on Skype or Ventrilo. Hope you can all make it on Thursday!
Chat will be on Ventrilo.

You know, “anent” is an awesome word in serious need of a revival. Indeed, given the medieval mishmash of our fantasy RPG’s, it would be perfectly appropriate to use “anent” with some frequency Thursday night.
At any rate, if you have the time, play through the intro on a new character before we start; the suggested starting point for our playthrough/discussion will be right after that. We’ll try to stick together more than we usually do, I think, so that we can gesture towards some close-reading of, say, the epiphenomenal (indeed, epipractical) diegetic signification of the mudcrab.
I’ll be in for this. It will give me an excuse to finally try out Oscuro’s Oblivion Overhaul.
I’d like to get the ball rolling on “What’s your favorite quest line?” now. I mean, it’ll take some thinking to tally a list.
Early front-runners for me: “Lifting the Vale” – the Pale Pass quest.
“The Ultimate Heist” – Thieves guild final quest. (I didn’t like the other final quests as much, of the ones I did.)
