Gaming Session: Hydro Thunder Hurricane, January 13, 2011

This week, we’re returning to the XBLA game Hydro Thunder Hurricane. If you haven’t given it a try, I urge you to join us: aside from being the premiere art game of our time, it’s really a silly amount of fun, doing a great job of providing lightweight arcade fun while allowing plenty of space for chatting.  (And I assure you, you don’t have to worry about the rest of us having memorized every detail of the courses…)

We’ll meet this Thursday, 1/13 at 9:30 EST / 6:30 PST; please send a friends request to “malvasia bianca” if you haven’t done so already. Also, I’d recommend that you download the free add-on “Tempest Pack (Multiplayer Only)” (or, if you want to try those courses offline, you can get the paid version) – that will increase the number of courses and boats that we have available.  (I’ve just purchased the paid version, so I’ll be able to host games on the new courses.)

  1. As the eccentric who lobbied for this game, I wouldn’t miss it for the world!

  2. Spector says:

Anyone want to play Echo Bazaar next week?

  3. Huh, interesting thought. We’re planning to do Minecraft next week, but we could consider it for a future week.

I guess my one qualm is that you run out of energy really fast in that game, so I’m not sure it would be enough by itself. But maybe we could find something to pair it with? It’s an interesting game, I’d certainly be curious to hear what other people think about it.

  4. Spector says:

    Minecraft eh?

Anyway, I won’t be joining for quite a while, Karate lessons have moved to thursday nights , and only end at eight.

  5. Spector says:

In addendum, We should play chess, I need the sudden insight to help reduce my nightmares. It’s already at 6.
